deadhand control : the use of executory interests that vest at some indefinite and remote time in the future to restrict alienability and ensure that property remains in the hands of a particular family or organization; in the U.S. and Britain the rule against perpetuities restricts this activity. In Iran, this activity is statutorily impossible and no person having title to property can restrict alienability of his property after his death though other than established methods of alienation he may, by a valid last will and testament, either provide for definitive conveyance of as much as only one-third of his estate to any person after his death in the form of a gift or voluntarily transfer any portion – or even the entirety – of his real estate to any person during his lifetime without compensation frequently with the stipulation on the title deed that possessory rights shall vest in the donee only after the death of the donor.
